Premier Prioritizes New Pension Model for Severe Disabilities

Premier Greg Selinger's response to the recent call for a renewed poverty reduction plan in The View From Here 2015 sets out establishing a pension like basic income for people with severe and prolonged disabilities as one of eight government priorities.

This would represent an important step forward.
Barrier-Free Manitoba and Abilities Manitoba, however, are still waiting for a response from Greg Selinger, as the NDP leadership candidate, on his positions on three key disability issues. We hope to receive word from him and the other candidates on these positions by later today.
