Disabilities no barrier to good times on ship or shore

Jul 07, 2009

Debbie Marshall (VancouverSun). "The 35-year-old editor had always loved to travel -- whether it was backpacking in Southeast Asia or camping in Jasper National Park. Despite suffering from mild arthritis since childhood, she didn't mind sleeping in a tent or curling up in a sleeping bag in a youth hostel. Then her arthritis worsened and Brown developed a severe heart condition. Today, she has to use a wheelchair or scooter to get around. Fortunately, Brown was able to find a way to visit exotic places and remain somewhat independent in the process. It all began with a trip to Alaska eight years ago on the Norwegian Cruise Line."
