Review of the Proposed Accessibility Standard for the Design of Public Spaces

Feb 14, 2020

Barrier-Free Manitoba (BFM), a non-partisan, non-profit, cross-disability initiative, has a grassroots advocacy role, alongside persons disabled by barriers, to review the Government of Manitoba’s work related to the Accessibility of Manitobans Act (AMA). Our goal is to ensure the Government of Manitoba develops Accessibility Standards that meet the true intention and full promise of the AMA and that it conducts this work through meaningful and inclusive consultation with persons disabled by barriers. As such, we respectfully submit our review of the Government of Manitoba’s proposed Design of Public Spaces (DOPS) Standard (formerly the Built Environment Standard).
