Firebrand Lepofsky Scheduled to Present to Standing Committee on Bill 26

Oct 27, 2013

David Lepofsky, the champion who has so ably led the campaign for effective accessibility-rights in Ontario, is scheduled to present at the October 29th Social and Economic Development Standing Committee meeting.

David Lepofsky

David is the chair of the AODA Alliance, the disability consumer advocacy group that works to support the full and effective implementation of accessibility standards in Ontario. Since 2005, the AODA Alliance has worked collaboratively with the disability community and with government to promote the interests of persons with disabilities.

David active engagement in accessibility-rights legislation strechces back to advocacy efforts leading up to the passage of the Ontarians with Disabilities Act (ODA) in 2001 and the much stronger Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act in 2005. IT goes back even further to the development of Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

With so much expereince in the design andd implementation of rights-based legislation, we hope that he will be sharing his views on what Manitioba can learn to build on what has worked and learn from what has worked less well.

David is an incisive thinker and brilliant orator. He has been a valuable and much appreciated supporter of Barrier-Free Manitoba's call fro strong and effective accessibility-rights legislation here in Manitoba.
