Rising to the Challenges Ahead of Collective Action

Mar 08, 2013

Barrier-Free Manitoba hosted a discussion session among disability stakeholders on February 13, 2013 to consider the challenges that lie ahead in working together to ensure the effective implementation of the pending accessibility-rights legislation.

The February session built on discussions from an initial session held in December 2012. A key outcome from this initial session was the expression of strong support for establishing a coalition representative of the diversity of the disability community to coordinate and provide direction for meeting the post-legislative challenges and opportunities. Participants at that session also suggested meeting again to continue and deepen the discussion.

The February 13th follow up session was attended by 21 individuals, including the Barrier-Free Manitoba Steering Committee and representatives from 16 invited disability-related organizations and coalitions.

The notes from this follow up session are posted here for community and public review (Word / PDF).
