Just how accessible will April 2016 election print materials be?

Jan 16, 2016

Making sure print materials are accessible is pretty darn easy. It's the right thing to do and its win-win for everyone.

There are more than 18,000 Manitobans with visual and sight disabilities eligible to vote in the April 2016 provincial election. As citizens, these Manitobans have the human right to fully participate in any and all election activities. Their ability to excercise this right depends on the accessibility of the information (both print and online too) prepared by the parties who are vying for their votes.

Because if the information is inaccessible, you are pretty much disenfranchised.

Large print size is one of the key (but not only) consideration. With the aging of the population, every half-savy marketer is taking that into account these days. But how about Manitoba's political parties.

Not knowing how to make print material accessible just isn't an excuse. There are plenty of useful guides available. Click here to see just one example.
