Barrier-Free Manitoba extended the following invitation to endorsers and subscribers this morning

Special Date Night Invite: October 29th

Tuesday October 29th has been set as the date for the final public hearing on Bill 26, the landmark Accessibility for Manitobans Act. Barrier-Free Manitoba invites you to join us to help mark this special date night with an accessible and inclusive future.

Those who joined us on April 24th, when Bill 26 was first tabled, can tell you that our first date with the proposed legislation was outstanding. The engagement with strong and effective accessibility-rights legislation will continue on October 29th. It’s our last chance to show how serious we are before the knot is tied and the Bill moves on to Third (final) Reading when, if passed, it will become the law in Manitoba.

Don’t worry. You won’t be asked to speak at the hearing (but I have included details below if you want to make a presentation). Having a strong turn out at the meeting to demonstrate the importance of the bill and the support for the improvements needed to further strengthen it will make a huge difference.

Arrangements are yet to be finalized but here are the basics:

While there are a total of nine bills scheduled for review, the House Leaders have kindly agreed that Bill 26 will be the first one considered that evening. We expect that the discussion of the bill will be completed by 8 pm.
