Barrier Free Manitoba

As required under legislation, each of Ontario Ministries have posted their most recent annual plans for removing barriers and enhancing accessibility on a central government website.

It sure would be nice to see all Manitoba Departments follow suit in 2013-14. But this reporting and planning requirement would need to be set out in the accessibility-rights legislation the Government looks to table within the coming months.

But why stop here? Crown corporations and municipalities should be required to submit annual plans too.

Barrier-Free Manitoba called for these requirements in its briefs to government and to the Manitoba Accessibility Advisory Council.

We remain hopeful that the Government of Manitoba will act on this recommendation. It's hard to understand why it would not.
