BFM 2.0 Launches on International Day

Dec 02, 2011

The new, improved and expanded version of e-Barrier-Free Manitoba is launching on December 2, the day that major events are being held in Winnipeg to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

We are calling this BFM 2.0, as follow up to our work up that led to the passage of The Accessibility Advisory Council Act this past June.

Here's what's new:

This revised BFM web site (you are already on it)
We have revised our web site to simplify navigation and to more clearly identify what's new on the site. We have also added a search function so that you can more easily find specific resources of interest.

Follow Us on Twitter
We recently joined the Twittersphere. Going by the handle @barrierfreemb, we have now contributed over 220 tweets on fast-breaking news related to disabilities and accessibility. We follow and are followed by an expansive international network of groups and activists who share our passion for disability rights. F U R (if you are) on Twitter, please follow us. If not, visit us on Twitter site and take a gander. It's a pretty amazing social media world.

Join Us on Facebook
We now also have a Facebook page where we post our tweets and provide other comment. The strength of Facebook is that you, too, can post comments on our page and discuss important issues with other Facebook members. Please visit us and start or join the conversation.

Weekly World Digest of Disability/Accessibility Rights Developments
This is, perhaps, the most exciting of our new communication tools. It provides a weekly update of global developments related to disability and accessibility rights. It does this by consolidating tweets and both Facebook and Google+ entries on these issues over the past 7 days and packages them into an attractive e-newspaper. New editions of the e-newspaper are published every Sunday. If you subscribe, you automatically get updates every week. Or you can just visit the paper's website whenever you want to review recent developments.

As special bonus content for web site visitors, we also have a daily version of the 'World Digest'. It's meant for those who would like daily updates on what's happening around the world related to disability and accessibility rights.
